COSI Core Committee

The COSI Core Committee is the backbone of COSI – the machinery which runs the community.

​

Core Committee members are responsible for setting and implementing annual goals for the community in keeping with the vision and mission of COSI.

​

Core Committee Membership Duties:

1. Decide goals for the year

2. Monitor progress towards these goals

3. Coordinate volunteer efforts

4. Serve as the ‘gatekeeper’ for new members, decide based on eligibility criteria whether to

allow them in the community or not

5. Create reports to share at the end of the year with the whole community

How do you become a member of the COSI Core Committee?

1. Core Committee consists of 4-6 individuals (not more)

2. Should be an existing member of COSI (Student Members and Friends are not eligible)

3. Voluntary

4. Experience such as membership of a SIOP committee or promoting other causes similar to COSI will be preferred but not required

​

The Core Committee will be refreshed every year (January-March). Every year at least one or two members rotate off to make way for new folks. If there’s competition for the spots/more interest than spots, then the Committee will:

a. Ask if any potential/current committee members want to step down

b. Ask for current committee members to vote/nominate new ones

c. Ask for COSI members to vote/nominate new ones

d. Select based on location/background
